Let's face it – February can sometimes be deemed the worst month of the year. It's just long enough to get out of the post-holiday slump, but as soon as you settle into the month, March sneaks right around the corner. While it has its downfalls, let's not write February off too soon! Sure, it's the shortest month of the year, but that's all the more reason to make it count. Here’s some of our ideas as to how you can make the most of the shortest month of the year.
February isn’t typically known for having the best weather. But cold and gray skies often come with cozy and warm indoor counterparts. So, next time you find yourself snuggled on the couch, use it as an opportunity to try something new. We all have a prospective hobby that we’ve let collect dust, and now’s the perfect time to relight that spark inside you. Whether that's knitting or learning how to bake – February is practically begging you to explore a new passion. The more you allow yourself to try, the higher the chance you find something you love!
Speaking of love, February is all about it, whether that's for someone special in your life or for yourself. We all know Valentine's Day is the “day of love” but don’t limit yourself to one day of celebrations. Plan a fun night with friends, family or even yourself. You can exchange small gifts, snacks or just spend the day doing something that makes you happy. Love can take on many forms, and February gives you the perfect chance to celebrate all of them. With an extra emphasis on self-love, February will help you maintain a sense of mindfulness for the new year.
Following January’s transition into the new year, February is the perfect time to reconnect with yourself and establish your intentions for the year. February often pumps the brakes on the chaotic months leading up to it, as the holiday decorations have come down and the reality of your New Year’s resolutions settles in. Take this quiet winter pace as a chance to get in tune with yourself! This can be done in several ways: meditation by the fire, taking a break from technology to journal, or even getting some outdoor exercise (assuming you have the proper layers on). Grant yourself what you need this month.
What February lacks in quantity of days is sure to make up for in quality of possibilities. Celebrate the small wins, try something new, practice self-care, and connect with yourself this month! By the start of March, you might find that February has won you over.
